I am a Shaklee Distubuter and I also use the Products myself. I use the Chase/Amazon Visa Card to make my purchases. I get the benefits of bonus points from my Visa Card and I get the benefits of good health from my Shaklee products.
THE ADULT STUDENT'S GUIDE TO SURVIVAL & SUCCESS October 4, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The Adult Student's Guide to Survival & Success is more helpful than I imagined a student success book could be! This year I started taking college courses to get a degree in nursing. It's been (15) years since I left high school. I was afraid I might fail in college, but this book showed me how to succeed. Because of it, not only am I passing my courses, I`m getting straight A's!
The chapter on how to overcome fears and concerns was right on. It helped me relax and gain self-confidence. Everything I need is in this book. It gives me practical methods on how to study efficiently, write excellent papers, and prepare for tests and get high grades. I'm employed full time, so I didn't need the information on how to get financial help, but I sure needed the tips on how study at home and during breaks at work.
My courses require lots of internet research. The Adult Student's Guide gave me great guidance and I used the book's website, too. I didn't know that most college classes now put students into learning teams. This book explains how to work in learning teams and create an Accomplishments Portfolio that I'll show job interviewers. The chapter on how to get a good grade from an instructor who doesn't teach in a way I like was a lifesaver.
This is much more than a book about study skills and how to get high grades, however. The chapters on how to hold up under constant pressure and be resilient showed me how to take college courses while working full-time and still have lots of time for my friends and sports activities. Anyone starting college after years away from school will find that The Adult Student's Guide has everything they need to know about how to survive in college, have a personal life, get high grades, cope with pressures, get through rough times, and graduate.

Disappointing August 28, 2005 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was expecting something a little more substantial, like actual suggestions on how to make it in college with my 3 young kids, but what I got was at best, rudimentary advice on how to apply for a loan. I would recommend another book instead.
Very helpful August 3, 2002 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Definitely helps you get yourself pointed in the right direction. My only complaint is some bad links on the webpages recommended.

Now in an updated and expanded fourth edition, The Adult Student's Guide To Survival And Success shows the adult learner how to overcome fears, study and pass tests, get financial help, gain family support, balance work and college, create a portfolio, be resilient and adaptable, use Internet resource, achieve educational and technical proficiency. The collaborative effort of educators and psychologists Al Siebert, Bernadine Gilpin, and Mary Karry, The Adult Student's Guide To Survival And Success is enhanced with a website of its own and this new edition shows how to go online to practice, develop Internet skills, and even take educational courses online. The Adult Student's Guide To Survival And Success is "must" reading for anyone returning to school after a prolonged absence due to parenthood, career changes, or retirement.
