4 out of 5 stars Paying for College aka Surviving the FAFSA   February 26, 2006

This book helped me to walk step by step through the financial aid process that colleges demand. There are forms in the back that made doing the FAFSA a lot less onerous than it seemed at first. It has areas of instruction for private as well as state funded schools. It explains what you have to tell the schools that you have financially, what you don't and why. Also is very helpful in advising you how to negotiate with the colleges after their first financial aid offer comes through. Neither of my children would have been able to attend the institutions they are currently in without the financial advise I got from this book.

2 out of 5 stars Questionable value   October 21, 2003

The real value of this book appears to be its short term strategies. These are strategies one may employ when college is approaching. Its long term strategies are nothing more than what you'd find in Money Magazine or similar periodical. My advice is to wait and purchase this book until you're within five years of enrolling in college.
